In Greeley and across Weld County, traffic tickets are common. You may be pulled over and cited for Careless Driving, Reckless Driving, Following Too Closely, or even Speeding. The Greeley Police have recently implemented a new tool that will make getting a speeding ticket even easier – speed radar vans. According to the report, these vans take an image of the offending vehicle’s license plate and record a short video of the speeding violation. Starting June 15th, the people of Greeley can expect to get these tickets in the mail, much like the tickets from red light cameras.

Penalties for Speed Radar Van Tickets in Greeley, Colorado

If caught by the speed radar van, these are the associated penalties:

Issues with Speed Radar Van Tickets in Weld County

While it’s great that these vans get pictures of the license plate and a video of the speeding, do they get picture proof of the driver? How do they know that the person named on the registration was the one driving the vehicle? What if you have a family of 4 drivers and you all use the same vehicle. If there is no proof of the driver, then who gets the ticket?
