If you have questions call the O’Malley Law Office at 970-616-6009.

Can Visitors Watch Webex Court in Weld County?

Yes, visitors are welcome to attend court appearances by Webex. Just like walking into the courthouse and a real courtroom, visitors should log in, sit quietly and wait until the judge calls up the court case of their friend or relative.  Just be sure to remain silent as the court conducts its business.  You do this by keeping your microphone muted.  For privacy, you can also keep your video muted throughout the court time.

How to Find and Connect to the Weld County Court on Webex

The first step to finding and connecting to your courtroom after clicking on the Webex link above is to look for your county, and then your courtroom division.  The courtroom division can generally be found on any of your court paperwork. There is a separate Webex link for every courtroom.  To get to the courtroom you need, you have two choices: 1) click on the courtroom big green button, or 2) download the Webex app and then copy and paste the courtroom meeting number into the app.  In the event you are unable to get the video to work, there is generally an option for calling in to the courtroom on your smartphone.  Each of these are great ways to make it to your mandatory courtroom appearance, whether you are a defendant in a Weld County criminal case or just an observer.

How do You and Your Lawyer Meet up in Your Greeley Webex Courtroom?

Your lawyer will appear in a separate box on the Greeley Webex virtual courtroom – just like you.  You will be able to hear them and they can hear you – but don’t talk out loud to them, or everyone, including the judge and the DA, will hear you.  It is generally best to use the chat feature built in to Webex – just be sure that you select your lawyer’s name from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the chat screen on the right, or your Webex chat message will go out to everyone in the courtroom.

Top Ten Webex Rules for Your Weld County Court Appearance

Here are the top ten rules for making your Webex experience the best possible:

  1. Dress for court, because the judge and DA will notice if you don’t. Judges get a negative impression of you if you show up for court in a T-shirt or pajamas.
  2. Pay attention to your background. Don’t have unsightly posters or people behind you when you log into Webex.
  3. Lighting: make sure there is light on your face and behind your computer screen. Don’t have any light behind you, such as a lamp or window, or you will become a silhouette and look terrible.
  4. Don’t move your smart phone or tablet around while logged in – prop it up and don’t touch it. Also, it is bad form to try and appear while you are driving down the road.
  5. Don’t eat food while on Webex – everyone will be very unimpressed.
  6. Don’t slouch or lay back in your bed for Webex court. Sit up and look your best.
  7. Sound: always keep your microphone muted until the judge calls your case.
  8. Try and find a location to set up with a solid wall behind you with nothing on the walls.
  9. Most judges will want you to appear in person, and not use Webex, if you failed to appear previously for court or for sentencing if there is a chance of jail.
  10. Practice first. It is always a good idea to try to connect through Webex and just watch court once before you have court. If you can’t do this, be sure and try to log in a half hour before your court. You may need every minute of this time to get connected on time.
