Car Wash Scam Using Fake $20 Bill

Theft in Greeley and Weld County is taking something of value from someone with the intention of never giving it back. A man is facing Theft for coming up with a scam to steal money from a car wash. According to the report, the man had a laminated $20 bill attached to a string that he would feed into the machine. He would press the refund button and collected the returned money. Then, he would pull the $20 bill out of the machine with the string and repeat the process. He allegedly got $700 through the scam from one car wash and has been spotted using the same method at car washes in other cities. He has not been caught, but it being sought by police. If apprehended, he will likely face charges for Theft.
