Gun Control, But No Knife Control in Weld and Morgan County?

Why is there gun control but no knife control in Colorado? Read more in our blog.

The law isn’t logical, because people aren’t logical. Anti-gun laws go into effect every day. Just last year, high-capacity gun magazines were banned in Colorado, resulting in a large company moving out of state. We are confused, however. The same people who push for gun control don’t fight against other deadly weapons, such as knives. Why is this? Knives are dangerous if used incorrectly, just like guns. For example, last year in Texas, a man attacked and wounded 14 people with a knife on a college campus. Why were there no legislators calling for knife control? Why were there no media-hungry parents of the students who were hurt calling for justice? This is because gun control activists aren’t looking for justice – they’re looking for control in Weld, Morgan, and Logan County.

Freedom Given Away in Exchange for Safety is Dangerous

Here at the O’Malley Law Office, we understand the importance of owning weapons in Greeley, Johnstown, and Wellington. Our country’s Second Amendment affirms this “right of the people to keep and bear arms,” and says it “shall not be infringed.” Anti-gun activists and legislators are ignoring this freedom, and are attempting to infringe on a basic right of every citizen. This is done in the name of “safety.” But, freedom given in exchange for safety is dangerous. Benjamin Franklin said “those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Why No Knife Control?

Why then, don’t legislators and our government take away our knives? Why don’t they take away our cars, which can be used in vehicular homicides? Our legislators and government need to understand it is people who commit crimes, not guns, knives, or cars. The reason gun control advocates want to take away the right to bear arms is because they know the power it will give them. George Mason, the co-author of the Second Amendment, had this to say about gun rights: “To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” Gun control activists and legislators know the power they have when they control the guns of a country.
